Irene received her MSc degree in Psychonomics at the University of Amsterdam in 2008. She continued with a PhD project with Dr. Mike X Cohen and Prof. dr. Richard Ridderinkhof at the same university, investigating the functional and structural brain connections that support reinforcement learning and decision making in young and older adults. Between 2015 and 2017, Irene worked as a post-doc at the Radboud University in Nijmegen. She was funded by the Behavioural Science Institute to study age-related changes in reinforcement learning at difference time scales, and the underlying brain networks. As a post-doc in the Habit lab, Irene will focus on the neural underpinnings of habitual behavior and implementation intentions.
