Sanne de Wit is Associate Professor in Clinical Psychology at the University of Amsterdam and principal investigator of the Habit Lab. Her research focuses on understanding how habits shape behaviour and how habit-based interventions can achieve behaviour change.

Her research lies at the intersection of associative learning theory, behavioural neuroscience, and the psychology of behaviour change. By integrating experimental research, neurobiological approaches, and real-life investigations, she aims to bridge the gap between these fields, and thereby improve insight into the processes underlying habits, and achieve impactful, real-world interventions, particularly in the domain of (physical and mental) health.

Next to her research, she teaches courses to psychology students, including Scientific Writing and Presenting, Addiction and Compulsive Disorders, and Shaping Habits for Mental Health & Wellbeing, and supervises student research projects. She chairs the Scientific Advisory Board of the Psychology Research Institute at the University of Amsterdam, and serves on the Daily Board of Clinical Psychology as well as the Faculty Impact Committee of the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences.
